Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush. -Doug Larson
That's how I felt this spring, and probably every spring, really. Winter can feel so bleak and barren, and with the arrival of spring comes hope. I felt like the sweet fresh air and bright new leaves did a world of good to my creative mind and I could finally breathe and see the beauty all around me again. Winter can be so hard, but it makes spring so so good.
Have you ever noticed the way the light changes in your home with the change of seasons? Even the colour of the light looks different. I love that about photography, the way it's forced me to notice the world around me. Small changes in light and shadow can change everything about a photo. Look around you, day after day, week after week, until a new season arrives. Notice how everything has changed.
I realized that I was audibly making note of these things when my four year old son stopped me suddenly as I was leaving his room awhile ago to show me how the sun was reflecting off of objects in his room to splash colours on to his wall. He was enraptured and had to document it by drawing what he saw. I loved that. Look around you and see, really see!
